A pigment fixer is a liquid medium created to permanently bond loose powders onto the surface of miniatures, dioramas, and scale models. Unlike varnishes or paints, it is designed to flow directly into the pigment layer without disturbing its fine texture or covering details. Once dry, it holds the particles in place, making them resistant to touch while preserving the realistic weathered appearance.
To fix pigments on models, start by applying the powders onto the chosen areas of the miniature or terrain piece. These are usually brushed on with a soft tool to simulate shading, soil, or worn surfaces. Once in place, the liquid is added carefully, letting it flow into the powders rather than brushing it directly. This can be done with a fine brush or a dropper for precise control.
