With miniature painting there can be a paralysis of not starting, "I don’t have the right gear", "I'm not good enough yet", "I don't know how I will paint the face". The best thing to do is to just start, put paint on the brush.
I've taken the same approach with The Hobby Collective. My ducks are not all lined up (neither are my suppliers), I don't have a fully-fledged store yet, I don't completely know what I'm doing... But if I wait for that nothing will happen, so lets jump in.
Miniatures and painting had a brief moment in my childhood with 20mm WWII soldiers (possibly Airfix) in the 90's and forays into Hero Quest. It wasn't until adulthood that I fell into the hobby side of Warhammer 40k, commission painting, and then the slippery slope of Kickstarter miniature-heavy-board games with my first "back" of Massive Darkness in 2016.
My Passion is painting miniatures and seeing people learn, challenge themselves and take joy in their hobby.
The Goal of THC is to provide and introduce a wide variety of paints & products to New Zealand hobbyists at reasonable prices.
The Dream is to have a space where people can drop in and paint, try new products and sip the occasional paint water together.
This is the first step, putting paint on the brush.
