As a hobbyist, The Hobby Collective grew out of 3 goals,
1) seeing the hobby grow
2) helping others learn
3) my frustration at not being able to get a wide variety quality painting products locally (& within NZ). My dream is to have all the major brands and product lines under one roof (& website).
I was told “No” a lot.
And then Games Workshop & Green Stuff World got on board, and their enthusiasm and support enabled me to launch. Trying to expand the range, I scrapped and clawed for product from every part of the globe and was told “No” a lot more. But the “little 1 man Hobby store that could” persevered, empowered a by an ever-growing group of loyal customers in search of great hobby products. To them I will always be incredibly grateful!
"This has been the biggest highlight of the journey so far, meeting hobbyist, talking paint, seeing their art"
Now almost 6 months in The Hobby Collective has regular restocks of Citadel, Green Stuff World, Dirty Down, AK Interactive, Vallejo, Two Thin Coats, Pro Acryl, Krimera Kolor, Scale 75, Army Painter, Molotow & more.
But this is just the beginning as those ranges will continue to expand.
Since I’ve started, other hobby stores have expanded their ranges too, and I get asked about the competition. It’s not a competition (I’m the little guy here), but it is a win. I’m a hobbyist first and foremost and the more product available in more places to more people at better prices, the better it is for all of us hobbyist.
If you have a favourite local store show them some love, ask for more paint ranges, if you don’t, check me out.
Happy hobbying!!
Tim
